Isaiah 28:29 contains a great description of God - “The Lord Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.” Paul speaks, in 2 Corinthians 12:7,
of “surpassingly great revelations.” Whenever God reveals an
increased measure of His wonderful counsel and magnificent wisdom, He
wants us to remain humble, resting only in His grace and power (2 Corinthians 12:9)
and not in any supposed achievement or attainment of our own. He wants
us always to say, from the heart, “Praise be to the Lord” (Psalm 106:48).
" ... Will you ... come and stand before Me in this house, which bears My Name, and say, We are safe" - safe to do all these detestable things? Has this house, which bears My Name become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the Lord" (Jeremiah 7:8-11). “God demands a conversion of the mind and heart as the basis of peace and security (cf. Is 26:3), not the superstitious veneration of a stone building or a traditionally sacred site” ( R K Harrison , Jeremiah ).
