In
Genesis 29-30, we read of many births. The significant birth, in terms
of God’s purpose of redemption, is the birth of Joseph (Genesis 30:22-24).
There is, of course, another Joseph in Scripture – Joseph, the husband
of Mary, the mother of Jesus. The birth of Jesus was a mighty miracle.
Jesus was the Son of God. He had a special relationship to God the
Father – “no one knows the Father except the Son” (Matthew 11:27).
To whom does the Son choose to reveal the Father? – He reveals the
Father to those who respond to His gracious invitation – ”Come to Me,
all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
To those who come to Jesus Christ, God’s promise is given: “Those who
know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those
who seek You” (Psalm 9:10).
